The AF Suppression algorithm is designed to suppress atrial fibrillation by providing atrial pacing at a rate just above the intrinsic sinus rate, while it continually monitors intrinsic atrial rate, increasing the stimulation rate when the intrinsic rate increases. Unlike fixed overdrive systems, this ensures that the stimulation rate is appropriate for patient activity (i.e., not unnecessarily high when the patient is at rest, yet sufficiently rapid when the patient is active).
The AF Suppression algorithm is designed to help suppress atrial fibrillation and help reduce dispersions of refractory periods.
The AF Suppression algorithm is available in several models of St. Jude Medical pacemakers and ICDs. Consult individual product pages for availability.
